New Leader

The Group recently welcomed another new Assistant Beaver Leader, Graham Durey joined our Leadership team after his son became a Beaver in Oak Colony. Graham has thrown himself wholeheartedly into the role and also currently working on fundraising projects for the Group. Graham is a member of the Buckmore Park Scout Campsite Work Crew as well.


The Group would like to express their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Mr Martin Hann, who after reading one of our articles in the Village Voices magazine sent us a generous donation.

District Leader

One of Cub Leaders, Michael Watts, was recently presented with his District scarf by the ADC of Cubs after he joined the District Cub Team. The Team organise and run events and activities for all District's Cub Packs to attend.

New Tents

The Group recently took delivery of four new Kampa Hayling 4 tents that were purchased by a grant from the Co-op Community Fund.


The Group has recently signed up to the 'easyfundingraising' website site, which allows the Group to raise money through people shopping online. 

When you shop online if you go through the '' and registering for the 50thmedwayhooscoutgroup in the causes page rather than directly to the retailers website the Group can receive a donation from the retailer of up to 5% of your purchases. 

There are over 2700 retailers register with the 'easyfundraising' scheme including some of the biggest and most popular like Tesco, ebay, Amazon, Argos and Debenhams.

Recent Events


February saw our Beavers attend the District Treasure Hunt at the Riverside Country Park in Gillingham for Lord Baden-Powell's Birthday.


In February our Cubs entered a team into the District Fizz Quiz where they came fourth despite only having four team members. 

Scouts and Explorers

During February our Scouts had a team in the District Arrowhead competition held at Buckmore Park. For this the Scouts had to complete 17 challenges in the dark in a 6 hour time limit.

Up-Coming Events


Our Beavers will be hunting around Buckmore Park in search of Easter eggs at the District Easter Egg Hunt.

Our Cubs are entering 2 teams in the District Activity Hike at Buckmore Park where they will attempt 10 activities.

Our Scouts and Explorers will be having a Winter Sport night at the Chatham ski Centre, Capstone Park.


Our Beavers will be going to Pets at Home to do their Animal Friend Activity Badge.

Our Cubs will be going to Belchamps Scout Activity Centre in Essex for a weekend to do their DIY Activity Badge.

Our, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers will be attending the annual District St George's Day Parade through Rochester and Service at Rochester Cathedral.
