Scouts is for boys & girls between the ages of 10½ & 14 who are looking for something more adventurous than just sitting playing on a games console.
What Have We Been Up To?
November started for our Scouts with a one night Winter Camp at Buckmore Park., while there they did challenges toward they Ton of Fun Badge and enjoyed the firework display. They then had a District swimming night at Cascades Leisure Centre. There followed a marathon Ton of Fun Badge night where the scouts completed the final 21 challenges including tug-of-wars, dancing and building freestanding paper towers. The month end with a District Troop Night where teams competed in activities to earn fake money, the team own earned the most were the winners.
December began with our Scouts having a Community Challenge Night before they went to the Silver Blades ice rink in Gillingham for an ice skating evening. The last meeting of the month was the annual Christmas party, the Scouts played their part in the Group's fundraising day bag packing at Tesco. After Christmas our Scouts went to see Disney on Ice at Wembley Arena.
Our Scouts started the new year by having a Japanese themed night where they made fish kites in preparation for one of our Explorers going to Japan for the World Jamboree later in the year. They have also had a night hike on the Peninsular and entered a team into the District Quiz.
What Are We Going To Be Doing?
In February our Scouts will be having another Japanese themed night by making Daruma Dolls, they will also be having a Valentine's Night run be the Explorers for which they will be making sweets and cards. The Scouts will also have the opportunity to take part in the Arrowhead competition at Buckmore Park.
During March our Scouts will be learning new skills when they do three nights of Scout Skills. There will be a Winter Sports night at Capstone Park for the Scouts to attend as well.
Due to holidays there is only one meeting in April for the Scouts, where they will have a former Explorer returning to talk to them about going to University. The Troop will be attending the St George's Day Parade and Service with the rest of the District.
