In September we set off with games for Beavers so that the new beavers could join in and feel welcome and get to know the other beavers so that they had friends. We had a few new Beavers join but unfortunately we had a few Beavers moving up to Cubs. The Beavers have also looked at their healthy eating badge and looked at what foods are healthy and what foods aren’t. The Beavers have also made pizzas where they not only got to choose which toppings they wanted, but also roll out the dough to the shape and size that they wanted it. Completely home made with only a little bit of mess! The Beavers this month got the chance to make peppermint creams and make then to the shapes and colours that they wanted. Some of the Beavers wanted blue and pink ones but others wanted the more extravagant colour orange which certainly stood out from the rest of the colours.
In this month the cubs have been very busy. They have been tobogganing which was a first for some of the Cubs. They all had good fun racing each other down the course and for some of them, trying not hot get caught up by the leaders! The tobogganing goes towards their physical activity badge that they are completing over the course of a few months taking part in various activities such as the five aside football. The Cubs have also been working on their communication badge which involved using different communication devices and finding out how to use them and then actually having a go at using the devices for themselves. The Cubs have also completed the ICT level 1 badge by identifying devices used in computing and how you work each piece of equipment.
In Scouts and Explorers this month, they have been working towards their circus skills badge. They had the chance to use diablos, poi, slack line and practise other circus skills that they then had to perform to the Explorers. If the explorers thought that they had improved in this skill then the scouts got their circus skills badge. They were all lucky enough to get their badge. The scouts have also seen a few new members get invested in September who is still regulars to the scout meetings. James, Allister and I were lucky enough to receive our platinum awards, and for James also the diamond award, for achieving the Duke of Edinburgh awards for bronze and silver and also completing the international partnership award by taking part in an international camp.
See you in October Wenonah
